SUPPORT LETTER UPDATE FROM DAWN         5/21/2012

Still getting support letters as of yesterday, May 20, 2012.

I have kept Jeanette very informed and emailed her again today (May 21st) to let her know that we got about 90 letters and may have a few more stragglers.  I mailed them all this morning certified to the board and they will arrive on May 22nd.  Jeannette knows , and I think I wrote in my original email that a lot of the support came from my fellow Master of Social Work students at the University of Washington and a few from local churches; a third or less came from people she directly knows.

We have a lot of people simply praying now until June 8th,

See you then and I want to thank all of you for your efforts in getting these letters written.

Take care
Dawn

LAST PLEA FROM DAWN - 5/14/2012

Jeannette needs our letters of support- NOW!

Hello again,

I still have not gotten any letters (except from two people, thank you) for Jeannette. I understand the weekend was beautiful, Mother's Day and life is busy, but please take a minute to write a letter for Jeannette so she can be out here with us all and enjoy beautiful weekends like this last one was. I need to mail the letters this week, as they need to get to the board two weeks before her hearing so,

I need your letter by May 18th, that is this Thursday.

I have gotten great feedback from my collegues at school and people have taken her stiry to their places of emplyment, I have gathered well over 50 letters from complete strangers, and the number continues to grow, I tell you this because it is a bit disheartening that people who dont know her are so willing to write letters while the people who do know her have yet to write a letter. So please, this will be my last email asking for letters, take a few minutes to write a letter today or tomorrow.

Thank you
Dawn  @ (206) 743-5266  or  dawn330@gmail.com

PS If you are having trouble on what to say or how to write the letter I can send you examples or give you pointers on how to write a good letter, and remember it only needs to be a few paragraphs.

Jeannette's Corner - May 7, 2012

JEANNETTE'S NEW POST  May 7, 2012
Hello everyone!
....Seems like in March I thought the time would go so slow, but it's already May. Am sure the time has gone by because I've been so busy with legal issues. The Risk Assessment took about 3 weeks and is now complete. Then working with my counselor on a Viable Release Address, plus updating other assessments. I have good guidance from administration here, which is a bit unusual in this sort of legal endeavor and I am grateful.
....Am enjoying the blog and being able to get a message to everyone and to hear from people.
....Many of you always want to know how I'm doing. I wish that I could describe it all, the feelings, the appreciation and the love that I feel. Everyday when I see or hear stories in here of misery, I am reminded how lucky I am. It's because of each one of you who is reading is.
....Every so often I want to comment on people and if it seems like I don't get to you, know that your turn is coming. Okay! So today I want to do a shout out to Elizabeth. As many of you know she is unable to drive anymore and because of this she feels quilty that she can't see me. We write and I call, so we're good. You are there for me just as you have been there for me throughout all of these 28 years. Elizabeth - I LOVE YOU!
....Alice - hope your time away was good. How was the Mall Outlet? Inside joke here!!
....Susan - as usual you are a lifeline and my calming angel. Your peacefulness makes me see the bigger picture and it's always a brighter one!
....I love you all - talk to you soon. Jeannette

END.

P.S. (Editor: We send Jeannette a copy of this blog weekly, so feel free to write her on the blog to say "hi")

Oops! Fell Behind on the Follow Up Calls :(

BUT JEANNETTE STILL NEEDS OUR SUPPORT LETTERS

Hello,
I am sorry that I have not done the follow-up call that I promised. I wanted to make sure that you are able to access Jeannette's Blog (some wireless laptops are having trouble accessing the Blog) and just check in and say "hi" but I have a challenging back injury which makes sitting excruciatingly painful.  I will try to call all of you whom I have phone numbers for this weekend.

So far we have 5 people who can commit to 10 dollars a month to send to Jeannette's attorney to help with Jeannette's mounting legal fees. I don't think that I included Sheryl Gordon-McCloud's address in my letter so here goes:

A Welcome Message from Jeannette

April 23, 2012

Greetings!

The inspiration of this blog stems from my concern that as a group of individuals we are sort of “gypsy” like.  Some of you know each other, some of you have never met and some of you have just recently entered my life.

I am blessed to be surrounded by what I refer to as an “eclectic group of individuals” whom come from many walks of life and have entered my life at varying times.

Greetings                                                                                                                           April 23, 2012
I am writing to let people know that we have started a Blog for Jeannette to help her friends, family and supporters get and stay in touch and up to date regarding Jeannette’s upcoming Clemency Board Hearing in June. I will give information on how to log-in to the blog at the end of this letter, any comments on the blog will be screened before they will appear on the blog.

A blog is just an online diary - or journal.  You can limit the access to your blog but its like any web site if people have the address they can see your site.  Last post goes to the top of the page and drops the other posts down.   Just scroll up and down till you find what you want to read.

Helpful Tips for Writting Your Support Letter

The following are some guidelines and suggestions for a letter of support:

Once you have completed your support letter send it to Dawn Vrentas at:
dawn330@gmail.com or give her a call - (206)743-5266

LETTERHEAD – Your support letter should be on letterhead. The letterhead should include all of your contact information including your name, address, phone number(s) and email address if applicable.

DATE/DOC Number – The next item in your support letter should be the date, which should be typed in the top left corner below your letterhead. Include an address block with Jeannette’s full name and DOC 273043.

Begin your support letter with:  Letter of support for Jeannette K. Murphy

A Letter From Jeannette's Attorney - Sheryl Gordon McCloud Dated 4/27/2012

Asking for your attendance on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 10am in the Senate Hearing Room 3 of the
John A. Cherberg Building, Olympia. Washington.

...We had a wonderful show of support from members of the community who attended the hearing in March.  I cannot say exactly what will happen at the June hearing: it may be a brief review of the risk assessment and a vote, or it could be a lengthier discussion.  I am not preparing another major presentation of Jeannette's case to the Board, but both Jeannette and I will be prepared to answer any questions they may have.

I cannot guarantee that the number of supporters attending the June hearing will affect the Board's decision, but I do know that having a similar attendance could not possibly hurt, and could only help Jeannette's chances in the long run.  Since attendance records are taken and recorded, that means that Governor Gregoire will also know the consistency and the strength of Jeannette's support when she ultimately makes her final decision.

For that reason, I am once again asking Jeannette's supporters to attend this hearing...I understand that it can be quite difficult to make those arrangements, and I certainly do not expect everyone who receives this letter to be able to be at the hearing.  But I do hope that this is the last time I will have to ask this of you!

The office phone number is (206)224-8777; the e-mail address to send confirmations to is

Very truly yours,
Sheryl Gordon McCloud

Article from Seattle News Weekly

Remember the Governor listens to the recommendations of the Clemency Board but she alone decides to approve or deny the clemency request.

This article was written just a few years ago: Seattle News Weekly
http://www.seattleweekly.com/2007-07-04/news/gov-gregoire-one-tough-clemency-judge.php/

…Washington governor Chris Gregoire is already no Huckabee.

She has granted just 26 clemency requests out of the 215 she has received in her nearly five years in office.

Jeannette's Attorney Fees

From Dawn re: Jeannette’s Attorney Fees and asking for our help.

April 23, 2012

Hello,

I am writing you because of an issue I am sure all of you are aware of: Jeannette's legal costs. The lawyer she has chosen is wonderful, but also costs a great deal to work on Jeannette's case.

Letters of Support: Second Request and Update

Message from Dawn re: Letters of Support

April 23, 2012

Hello again,

I have not received word from many people (only 2) about being willing to write a letter of support. I was hoping to at least get a yes or some communication as to who was willing to support. I would greatly appreciate you letting me know.  Better yet, please send me a brief letter of support for Jeannette so that I can begin compiling all of them.

Thank you again,
Dawn

Request for Letters of Support for Jeannette

A message from Dawn requesting that we write letters of support for Jeannette

April 4, 2012

I am writing all of you because of your connection to Jeannette. As most of you know she has been in the process of seeking clemency for quite awhile now and after her initial hearing last month they tabled her case until June. Her case will again go before the board on June 8th 2012, again at 10am in Olympia.
