I am writing to let people know that we have started a Blog for Jeannette to help her friends, family and supporters get and stay in touch and up to date regarding Jeannette’s upcoming Clemency Board Hearing in June. I will give information on how to log-in to the blog at the end of this letter, any comments on the blog will be screened before they will appear on the blog.

A blog is just an online diary - or journal.  You can limit the access to your blog but its like any web site if people have the address they can see your site.  Last post goes to the top of the page and drops the other posts down.   Just scroll up and down till you find what you want to read.

Helpful Tips for Writting Your Support Letter

The following are some guidelines and suggestions for a letter of support:

A Letter From Jeannette's Attorney - Sheryl Gordon McCloud Dated 4/27/2012

Asking for your attendance on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 10am in the Senate Hearing Room 3 of the
John A. Cherberg Building, Olympia. Washington.

...We had a wonderful show of support from members of the community who attended the hearing in March.  I cannot say exactly what will happen at the June hearing: it may be a brief review of the risk assessment and a vote, or it could be a lengthier discussion.  I am not preparing another major presentation of Jeannette's case to the Board, but both Jeannette and I will be prepared to answer any questions they may have.

I cannot guarantee that the number of supporters attending the June hearing will affect the Board's decision, but I do know that having a similar attendance could not possibly hurt, and could only help Jeannette's chances in the long run.  Since attendance records are taken and recorded, that means that Governor Gregoire will also know the consistency and the strength of Jeannette's support when she ultimately makes her final decision.

For that reason, I am once again asking Jeannette's supporters to attend this hearing...I understand that it can be quite difficult to make those arrangements, and I certainly do not expect everyone who receives this letter to be able to be at the hearing.  But I do hope that this is the last time I will have to ask this of you!

The office phone number is (206)224-8777; the e-mail address to send confirmations to is

Very truly yours,
Sheryl Gordon McCloud

Article from Seattle News Weekly

Remember the Governor listens to the recommendations of the Clemency Board but she alone decides to approve or deny the clemency request.

This article was written just a few years ago: Seattle News Weekly
http://www.seattleweekly.com/2007-07-04/news/gov-gregoire-one-tough-clemency-judge.php/

…Washington governor Chris Gregoire is already no Huckabee.

She has granted just 26 clemency requests out of the 215 she has received in her nearly five years in office.

Jeannette's Attorney Fees

From Dawn re: Jeannette’s Attorney Fees and asking for our help.

April 23, 2012

Hello,

I am writing you because of an issue I am sure all of you are aware of: Jeannette's legal costs. The lawyer she has chosen is wonderful, but also costs a great deal to work on Jeannette's case.

Letters of Support: Second Request and Update

Message from Dawn re: Letters of Support

April 23, 2012

Hello again,

I have not received word from many people (only 2) about being willing to write a letter of support. I was hoping to at least get a yes or some communication as to who was willing to support. I would greatly appreciate you letting me know.  Better yet, please send me a brief letter of support for Jeannette so that I can begin compiling all of them.

Thank you again,
Dawn

Request for Letters of Support for Jeannette

A message from Dawn requesting that we write letters of support for Jeannette

April 4, 2012

I am writing all of you because of your connection to Jeannette. As most of you know she has been in the process of seeking clemency for quite awhile now and after her initial hearing last month they tabled her case until June. Her case will again go before the board on June 8th 2012, again at 10am in Olympia.
